Gardener

Volunteer

Although it sounds cliche, I believe my gift in life is the gift of service. I absolutely love volunteering my time to help others and must admit most of my free time is spent on volunteer work. Throughout high school, I volunteered over 75 hours at a nursing home with the activities department and coordinated the blood drives while in the JROTC program. In college, I volunteered where ever I could find opportunities (more info on volunteer experience HERE). Since graduating college, I have been volunteering at places such as the Chester County Food Bank, Reading Hospital in the NICU and with dietitians around the Philadelphia region (for more information on shadowing, click HERE).

Sustainable Gardener

When I am not working, volunteering, running, reading, or completing supervised dietetic internship hours, I find peace in my garden. Last year, we produced tomatoes of five different kinds, eggplant, an assortment of peppers, herbs and squashes. In the fall, we grew cabbage. We hope the garden produces a bountiful amount of fresh produce this year!

Runner

I contribute my introduction to the field of nutrition to my 15 years of running. In high school cross country and track, I would research different varieties of food to optimize my training outcomes, while helping other teammates do the same.

Since high school, I enjoy running to raise awareness and money for causes. Pictured here, the Chester County Health Department raised awareness for the opioid epidemic across the state of Pennsylvania.

Wife and Dog Mom

On October 17, 2015 I became a wife and my last name changed from Wilson to Scura. In my free time, I enjoy going to Marsh Creek State Park with my husband and dog, Chase.
